Ideas for a Computational *Omics Lecture

General principles

  • Consider several different -omes: genome, transcriptome, proteome, interactome, metabolome
  • Mention up-to-date high-throughput technologies and how they work
  • Focus on efficient algorithms that can deal with massive amounts of data
  • Where several possiblities exist, choose the one with the more interestic algorithmic ideas (this is supposed to be a computer science lecture, after all).
  • Don't mention basic sequence analyisis methods (alignment, index structures, etc.), they are in a different lecture.
